Toshiba Memory Europe GmbH has announced the N502, a family of UHS-II EXCERIA PRO™ SD cards, created to meet the demands of the latest digital cameras and allow the recording of both 4K and 8K video and supporting continuous shooting.
The family provides a minimum data transfer speed of 90 MB/s[2], a maximum read speed of 270 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 260 MB/s[1], an equivalent of Video Speed Class 90; UHS Speed Class 3 or SD Speed Class 10.
The N502 joins Toshiba Memory Europe’s UHS-I SD Cards: the N401 EXCERIA PRO™ and the N203. The new UHS-II family of SD cards has a write speed 2.5 times[3] the N401 EXCERIA PRO™, and 10 times[3] the N301 EXCERIA™.
Available in 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB[4] options, the N502 EXCERIA PRO™ can hold up to 2,540 photos in RAW data format[5], or 220 minutes of 4K video at 30 fps[6]. Under internal testing, the N502 was able to transfer 1,000 1.5 MB images to a PC in just 26.38 seconds[7], and was able to write RAW image files from a full buffer to the SD card in just 8.6 seconds[3] [8].
The new N502 SD card measures 32 x 24 x 2.1mm, and weighing approximately 2g, is X-ray proof[9], and has an operating temperature range of -25˚C to +85˚C[10]. It comes with a five (5) year warranty.
The new N502 SD card has been qualified with Blackmagic Design Pty. Ltd. for use in its professional standard Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro camera.
