Designed for a range of security applications and scenarios, the R&S®QPS quick personnel security scanner will be exhibited on the Westminster Group stand at CTX, using the latest in antenna technology to provide fast, accurate and unobtrusive detection of objects.
Visitors to the CTX Counter Terror Expo, taking place on 19-20 June 2024 at ExCeL London, will see the demonstration of the next-generation people screening solution from Rohde & Schwarz. CTX is one of the world’s foremost counter-terrorism and security events, bringing together professionals and exhibitors from industry, infrastructure, government and policing. The Rohde & Schwarz R&S®QPS will be demonstrated at the event on the stand of British-based safety and security specialists Westminster Group.
The R&S QPS is a millimeterwave security scanner that automatically detects items carried on a person or concealed under clothing including metal, ceramic, plastic and liquids. Designed for security use in airports and public buildings, and for loss prevention in facilities such as factories and data centres, its optimised for fast, high-throughput scanning while ensuring a streamlined and unobtrusive user experience.
Persons being scanned stand squarely between the panels as if facing a mirror, holding their arms slightly away from their bodies. The scanner’s detection software then uses algorithms based on artificial intelligence to analyse and identify possible signatures of objects in a matter of milliseconds. The locations of any objects are flagged up showing the position on an avatar for the security operator to see and make further checks.
The system is highly reliable, with no moving parts and no calibration required during operation. It is insensitive to temperature fluctuations, making it suitable for outdoor as well as indoor events in a wide range of locations, scenarios and climates. The R&S QPS is equipped to perform across a wide range of applications, including passenger and visitor screening at airports, prisons, data centres and other sensitive or high-risk facilities, as well as large public or private gatherings or events. In addition to quickly and accurately identifying potential threats, the presence of the scanner has also been shown to act as an effective deterrent against theft, and potential security situations.
Lorraine Helland, Head of Sales, Westminster Group, comments: “We are delighted to have the innovative R&S QPS security scanner on our stand at CTX. As a global leader in delivering strategic security solutions, we are acutely aware that there is zero margin for error in our industry. This security solution represents the latest in fast and accurate people screening technology for both existing and emerging threats and offers significant benefits over manual checks and conventional metal detectors. We’re pleased to have Rohde & Schwarz as a partner and can’t wait to show visitors to the stand at CTX the next step in the evolution of modern safety and security.”
