Peltier Modules
These electrothermal converters are used to cool electrical devices or systems. They offer the advantage of a service life that is virtually unlimited. Their cooling is based on the physical Peltier effect, which is named after the French physicist Jean Peltier. If electric current flows through the Peltier elements, they cool one side by absorbing heat there and releasing it on the other side. The cooling effect is cause by the movement of electrons. The temperature difference between the two sides of the Peltier elements allows current generation, but only their cooling effect is usually used. Peltier elements are used in laboratory measuring devices to determine very small temperature differences, for example.
