A control cabinet with a door height of up to two meters and a corresponding door panel thickness usually requires a locking system with multi-point locking to ensure adequate IP protection, among other things. The built-in locking system including a rod guide is usually made of metal, which makes the overall construction more expensive. With a new solution made of high-performance plastic components, EMKA Beschlagteile GmbH now ensures efficient handling with optimum IP protection at a lower cost. Thanks to the proven, individually combinable design of the EMKA locking system, customers have a large selection of door locks at their disposal, from short key plates and various swivelling handles to lever handles.
The new EMKA solution with a rod drive consists of an active locking point which is actuated from the outside to open and close the cabinet. This point sets a connecting rod in motion outside the sealing area. The highlight: For customers who value high corrosion resistance at the lowest possible cost, EMKA has manufactured its new system with components made of technical plastic. In order to ensure secure and stable rod guidance, lock holders made of polyamide have been installed, which grip into the pastilles during the locking process. Depending on the rod length, these pastilles are located at several points right on the connecting rod. If a user operates the active locking point (key plate, swivel handle or lever handle) from the outside, all other locking points move synchronously with the drive.
Variably adaptable
Due to the plastic material, the length of the connecting rods is variable for the user and can be quickly shortened. The system can therefore be designed flexibly and adapted to the respective control cabinet without any effort. The connecting rod made of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide with EMKA’s tried and tested individually combinable locking components is therefore the perfect solution, especially for systems outside the seal where narrow tilting spaces are important. In combination with the lock holders, it meets all the requirements of a multi-point locking system. EMKA offers several variants of lock holders and rod guides.
