Avnet supports future innovators at Arizona Science and Engineering Fair

Avnet recently continued its long-standing support of the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF), held March 27–28 at Arizona State University in Tempe. Organized by the Arizona Science Center, AzSEF is the premier statewide science fair competition for students in grades 5–12, attracting over 500 participants from across Arizona.

Students qualify for AzSEF by winning local, district, and regional science fairs, with top Senior Division winners advancing to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF). The event awards thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes, encouraging hands-on STEM exploration.

This marks Avnet’s eighth year sponsoring the event. In partnership with Farnell, the company presented Raspberry Pi starter kits to this year’s grand award winners to support continued innovation and learning.

Avnet employee Debbie Duarte served as a judge in the Animal Behavior category and shared her enthusiasm for the event, “Judging at AzSEF is something I truly enjoy. It’s inspiring to see how much effort these students put into their projects and they really want to excel. It’s an amazing event that not only showcases their passion for science but also gives them a chance to meet new people and connect with other students.”

Rebeca Obregon, President of Farnell, also attended and remarked, “I was thrilled to present the Raspberry Pi starter kits to the grand award winners. I can’t wait to see how these students continue to innovate and inspire.”
