First of Its Kind: M3 Release Self-charging Ear Protector Headset

Innovative photovoltaics convert natural and artificial light into electricity.

To M3, protecting the environment and the workforce are two sides of the same coin. 3M’s innovative PELTORTM WSTM ALERTTM XPV headset protects your hearing, enables communicating in noisy settings filtering out background interference, and eliminates the need of disposable batteries. The product is now available on Conrad Sourcing Platform. “This technology is areal game-changer,” says Peter Berghamn, the director of global business at 3M PELTOR. “3M continue to focus on designing tomorrow’s innovative products. This headset is a result of advanced engineering and materials science, representing the perfect blend of performance, design, protection and sustainability.” As the distributor of the product, Conrad’s large audience and state-of-the-art warehousing aid in this groundbreaking new development.

Clean Energy and Recycled Material

In terms of sustainable power generation, the patented PowerfoyleTM solar cell technology is a real gamechanger. The design enables converting both natural and artificial light into clean electricity, charging the in-built lithium-ion battery, keeping the ear protectors ready when needed. What’s more, the world’s first self-charging ear protector headset is made of recycled plastics. Readily available spare parts ensure easy reparability. And OTA firmware updates increase the product lifespan.

Crisp and Clear Communication

The 3M ear protectors come with Bluetooth® MultiPoint technology that lets you connect two external devices. Even in extremely noisy work environments, the protectors turn your workplace into a pleasantly quiet office as the in-built noise-cancelling microphone enables hands-free crisp and clear communication. This helps you stay focussed and protected. Also, you don’t perceive wearing ear protectors as something that inconveniences you.

User-defined Adjustments to Surroundings

Moreover, the new protective headset features microphones for ambient listening (AL). Different settings ranging from very low to very high noise levels enable adjusting the device to any given scenario. The push-to-listen (PTL) feature allows you to listen to what happens around you without having to take the ear protectors off. Pressing the button temporarily deactivates Bluetooth streaming, activates the AL microphones and lets you know what’s going on and what people are saying next to you.

Easy-to-Use – Manually and via App

The headset comes with large-size buttons to make it easier to use when wearing gloves. Besides the On/Off switch, the device features large +/- volume control buttons. In addition, there is a multifunction button that activates a range of function presets in the 3M Connected Equipment app. The setting of these functions can be changed via a user-friendly graphics interface on your smartphone or tablet. The app also allows checking the current battery level and selecting different streaming profiles.
