The Silicon Labs MGM13P Mighty Gecko wireless mesh modules, available from Mouser Electronics, incorporate a low-power wireless SoC with a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M4 core with DSP instruction and floating-point unit for efficient signal processing. The SoC offers 64 Kbytes of RAM, 512 Kbytes of flash, and up to +10 dBm output power (with a +18 dBm version available to order from Mouser.com), as well as a wide selection of peripherals. Integrating the crystals, RF passives, and antenna necessary for a system-level implementation of wireless Internet of Things (IoT) mesh networks, the modules free developers from complex RF/antenna design and testing and allows them to focus on their end applications.
The 12.9 mm × 17.8 mm × 2.3 mm modules consume only 9.9 mA in 1 Mbps receive mode and 8.5 mA at 0 dB in transmit mode. The MGM13P modules support SoC or network co-processor architectures, and the +10 dBm version of the device meets regulatory requirements for IEEE 802.15.4 standard used in both Thread and Zigbee networks.
The MGM13P module is supported by Silicon Labs’ MGM13P Mighty Gecko Radio Boards — for use with the Mighty Gecko Starter Kit — and the Simplicity Studio™ suite of development and debugging tools that helps accelerate IoT product design.
